Director of Environmental & Planning

Location: Sligo, Ireland Full-time, Permanent

We are seeking an experienced Director of Environmental & Planning to lead the strategic growth, commercial performance and technical excellence of an established Environmental and Planning division within a highly regarded multidisciplinary consultancy.

This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for business development, financial performance, major infrastructure projects, technical standards and team development.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the strategic growth plan for the Environmental & Planning divisions.
• Identify new markets and secure major frameworks with utilities, developers and infrastructure clients.
• Lead senior client, regulatory and stakeholder relationships.
• Take responsibility for divisional financial performance, forecasting and operational delivery.
• Provide technical oversight of complex EIARs, environmental assessments and planning strategies.
• Work collaboratively with engineering disciplines on major infrastructure projects.
• Lead recruitment, retention, mentoring and development of the Environmental & Planning team.
• Represent the business at senior industry and stakeholder level.

Key Requirements

• 10+ years' experience in environmental and planning consultancy.
• Significant senior leadership experience within a consultancy environment.
• Strong track record delivering major infrastructure projects.
• Extensive knowledge of EIA/EIAR, planning and environmental legislation.
• Strong understanding of the Irish and/or UK planning systems and EU environmental directives.
• Proven commercial, business development and client relationship experience.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and managing financial performance.
• Level 8 degree in Environmental Science, Planning or related discipline; Level 9 preferred.
• Chartered/professional status such as IPI, MRTPI, IEMA, CIWEM or equivalent.
