Director of Strategic Communications and Engagement Location

CPL is partnering with a well establish public sector organisation are seeking an experienced and strategic leader to take on the role of Director of Strategic Communications & Engagement. This is a senior appointment responsible for shaping and delivering high-impact communications strategies, strengthening stakeholder engagement, and enhancing organisational reputation and trust.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive (or nominee), you will act as a key strategic advisor to senior leadership and the Board on all aspects of communications, public positioning, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic communications advice to executive leadership and the Board
• Lead corporate communications, media relations, and crisis management
• Develop and implement internal and external engagement strategies
• Oversee digital communications, including website and social media
• Drive stakeholder engagement across government, agencies, and partners
• Manage reputation, public messaging, and brand positioning
• Lead and develop a high-performing communications team
• Support organisational change through effective communication strategies

About You

• Degree in Communications, PR, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
• Minimum 10 years' experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role
• Proven experience in strategic communications, media management, and reputation management
• Strong influencing skills with experience advising senior leaders and boards
• Track record of managing communications in complex, high-pressure environments
• Excellent written, verbal, and stakeholder engagement skills
