Position Summary

The Business Development Director is responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic growth opportunities across semiconductor manufacturers by leveraging Hitachi High-Tech's advanced portfolio of semiconductor process equipment, factory automation solutions, advanced AI technologies, Agentic AI, and Physical AI capabilities. This executive-level role serves as a trusted business advisor to semiconductor manufacturers by assessing manufacturing operations, identifying measurable business improvement opportunities, building financial business cases, and leading strategic customer transformation initiatives. The Director partners closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Customer Success, and strategic technology partners to help customers improve manufacturing performance, operational efficiency, quality, profitability, and competitive advantage. The role combines deep semiconductor manufacturing expertise with business consulting, financial analysis, AI strategy, and value-based selling to accelerate customer digital transformation while driving sustainable revenue growth for Hitachi High-Tech. The Business Development Director bridges customer business strategy with Hitachi High-Tech's advanced technology portfolio. By combining semiconductor expertise, AI innovation, factory automation, financial analysis, and consultative selling, this role helps customers accelerate digital transformation, improve manufacturing performance, and achieve measurable business results while driving sustainable growth for Hitachi High-Tech.

Primary Responsibilities Business Development & Strategic Growth
  • Develop and execute business development strategies that drive revenue growth across strategic semiconductor accounts.
  • Identify new opportunities for AI-enabled manufacturing transformation across wafer fabrication, advanced packaging, inspection, metrology, yield management, and factory operations.
  • Build trusted relationships with executive customer stakeholders including Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Digital Transformation, IT, Finance, and Executive Leadership.
  • Create long-term strategic account growth plans aligned with customer business priorities and manufacturing roadmaps.
  • Collaborate with regional sales teams to qualify, develop, and close strategic opportunities ranging from equipment investments to enterprise-wide digital transformation initiatives.
  • Develop multi year customer engagement strategies focused on long term business.
Business Assessments & Value Consulting
  • Lead operational and business assessments at customer manufacturing sites to identify opportunities for throughput and OEE improvement, yield and quality enhancement, cycle time reduction, factory automation and AI adoption, predictive maintenance, workforce productivity, energy and asset optimization.
  • Translate assessment findings into executive business cases and transformation roadmaps with measurable financial outcomes.
Business Value & ROI Analysis
  • Develop investment justifications for semiconductor equipment, AI, automation, and digital transformation initiatives through ROI, NPV, IRR, TCO, and payback analyses.
  • Create cost reduction and productivity improvement models, capacity expansion and revenue growth analysis, risk and value assessments.
  • Present financial recommendations that enable customer executives to make informed investment decisions.
AI & Smart Manufacturing Solutions
  • Develop integrated solutions leveraging Agentic AI, Physical AI, Factory automation, Robotics, Computer vision, Digital twins, Predictive analytics, Industrial IoT, Manufacturing intelligence.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to define customer solutions that deliver measurable business value.
Sales Strategy & Opportunity Leadership
  • Support strategic sales opportunities by leading executive discovery workshops, business assessments, value proposition development, solution strategy, business case creation, proposal support, executive presentations, value based negotiations, customer transformation roadmaps.
  • Drive consultative, outcome based selling focused on business results rather than product features.
Cross Functional Leadership
  • Partner with Product Management, Engineering, Digital Solutions, Factory Automation, Marketing, and Customer Service teams to develop innovative customer solutions and provide market feedback that shapes future offerings.
  • Remain current on semiconductor manufacturing, AI, smart factories, automation, and semiconductor industry trends while representing Hitachi High-Tech at executive customer meetings and industry events.
Education, Licenses, and/or Certification Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or related field (MBA or Master's preferred).
Experience and Travel Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, factory automation, industrial AI, or related technologies.
  • 5+ years in business development, strategic consulting, or executive solution sales.
  • Willingness to travel globally (30-50%).
Skills and Abilities Requirements / Safety Requirements
  • Experience developing executive business cases and financial analyses (ROI, NPV, TCO).
  • Strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and smart factory technologies.
  • Proven ability to engage C level executives and lead strategic customer initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
