An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to join the specialist(CAMHS) Dietetic Team . The role will support children and young people with mental health needs, including those requiring specialist nutritional interventions, you will be working within CAMHS and as part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team.

You will work as part of the CAMHS Dietetic team based at St Cadoc's Hospital.

We are seeking an individual who:

• Has a good general education, including GCSEs (or equivalent), or above.
• Has experience working with children, young people and families within healthcare, community or related settings.
• Demonstrates a sound understanding of nutrition, healthy lifestyles and behaviour change.
• Is confident delivering group sessions and supporting individuals to achieve their health goals.
• Has excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• Can work independently whilst being an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Is able to travel throughout the Health Board area.

Main duties of the job

Working alongside registered Dietitians and other CAMHS professionals, you will deliver delegated interventions, support nutritional assessments, provide practical advice to young people and families, facilitate groups, and contribute to the ongoing development of dietetic services within CAMHS. You will gain extensive clinical experience in helping children and young people make positive and sustainable changes to improve their health and wellbeing.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As an integral part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) the post holder will support children, young people and their families to plan, deliver and evaluate interventions to support children and young people with complex difficulties and their families/carers.

The post holder will carry a delegated caseload to support the patient/families with changes to their diet. They will be expected to liaise with a number of stakeholders and co-ordinate care.

The post holder will support the work of registered dietitians as well as other clinicians in the multidisciplinary team and would be required to work within the British Dietetic Association (BDA) Professional Code of Conduct for dietetic assistants.

Person specification Skills Experience

• Good general education - 5 GCSEs or equivalent
• Competence in written and spoken communication
• Experience of project work
• Experience of working within health or education
• Experience of working as part of a team
