Diagnostic Vehicle Technician

We are recruiting on behalf of a prestigious main dealership in Bedford for a Diagnostic Vehicle Technician. This role offers an excellent opportunity for experienced professionals to join a high-performing aftersales team within a modern facility equipped with the latest diagnostic technology.
The successful Diagnostic Vehicle Technician will play a vital role in maintaining the dealership's reputation for quality and excellence. You will undertake complex diagnostics, warranty repairs, servicing, and maintenance work, ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality. The role involves using advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve technical faults, including working on electric and hybrid vehicles. You will be expected to follow manufacturer procedures meticulously and contribute to delivering a first-class customer service experience.
This Diagnostic Vehicle Technician role comes with a basic salary of £44,958, plus bonuses, with an on-target earnings of £50,958. The working hours are 45 hours per week, including a rota for weekend shifts. Benefits include 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (which increase with service), life assurance, tool insurance, a contributory pension scheme, and ongoing manufacturer training tailored to your development.
Key duties for the role include:
- Conducting complex diagnostic and repair work to manufacturer standards
- Using sophisticated diagnostic equipment and software to identify faults
- Performing electric and hybrid vehicle servicing and repairs, if qualified
- Ensuring all work aligns with health & safety regulations and manufacturer specifications
- Collaborating with the workshop team to meet departmental targets and uphold high standards
- Staying current with the latest technical developments through manufacturer training
- Providing exceptional service and technical support to colleagues and customers
The ideal Diagnostic Vehicle Technician will have:
- A minimum Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Previous experience in a diagnostic role, working with various automotive brands
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and diagnostic skills
- Proficiency with modern diagnostic tools and software
- Ability to follow manufacturer processes and uphold safety standards
- A team-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous professional development
- EV experience or qualifications are desirable, with ongoing manufacturer training available
