Duration: 12 month contract + extension

Rate: £400pd inside IR35

Clearance required: Active SC/Eligible

Location: Hybrid with occasional travel to Manchester, Newcastle or Leeds (other locations considered)

We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to support a large-scale programme within a secure UK Government environment.

The successful candidate will work across AWS infrastructure, automation and CI/CD, helping to build, maintain and improve secure, reliable cloud environments. This role would suit a hands-on DevOps Engineer with strong Infrastructure as Code experience and a good understanding of AWS compute, networking, security and storage services.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build, maintain and improve AWS cloud infrastructure and environments.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and Ansible.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab.
• Support AWS compute infrastructure including EC2 and Auto Scaling Groups (ASGs).
• Configure and manage AWS networking and security services including Route 53, Security Groups and IAM.
• Manage and support S3 storage.
• Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and environment issues.
• Work collaboratively with engineering and delivery teams within a secure Agile environment.
• Support the automation, reliability and continuous improvement of cloud platforms.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Strong commercial AWS experience.
• Terraform.
• Ansible.
• GitLab/GitLab CI/CD.
• AWS EC2 and Auto Scaling Groups (ASGs).
• Route 53.
• AWS Security Groups and IAM.
• Amazon S3.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, Infrastructure as Code and CI/CD principles.

Desirable Skills:

• Bash and/or Python Scripting.
• Kong CE/EE.
• Nginx.
• Prometheus.
• Grafana.
• Alertmanager.
• Amazon ECS.
• Amazon ECR.
• AWS Certificate Manager (ACM).
• AWS Key Management Service (KMS).
• AWS CloudFormation.
