Experienced Senior Java Engineer / Lead with hands on experience of working within payments domain and within ICON Payments Framework (IPF) to support the delivery of large-scale payment systems. This role involves hands-on development within modern, cloud-based architectures and close collaboration with major banking clients.
Required Skills & Experience- Minimum 2 years' hands on experience implementing ICON IPF or similar payments framework within banking environment
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of microservices-based applications using Java (v17 onwards) , Spring Boot, and related frameworks.
- Provide technical leadership to development teams, ensuring best practices in architecture, coding standards, performance, security, and maintainability.
- Strong experience working in AWS cloud environments
- Solid experience with Apache Kafka and asynchronous messaging
- 5-10 Years as a Java engineer
- Some hands on experience of operating within payment solution within banking environments
- Strong understanding of JMS, JSON, XML, Spring JPA, transaction management (JTA) and RESTful APIs.
- Proficiency in working with Oracle andMongoDB.
- Hands-on experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Behavior-Driven Development (BDD), with the ability to promote quality engineering practices across the development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with Bitbucket, Jira, Confluence, Docker, Kubernetes, Observability tools like (Grafana, Dynatrace, Tivoli) and CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins.
- Proven experience working closely with major banking clients
- Knowledge of ISO 20022 payments, including payment types and schemes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non technical stakeholders , work closely with product owners, architects, tech designers, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders in Agile Scrum teams to deliver high-quality solutions
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, perform code reviews, and support continuous improvement across the engineering team.
- Experience with Reactive Java Akka.
- Exposure to production support and release management, including supporting solutions through the path to live, deployment activities, hypercare, and post-production issue resolution.
