Design Project Engineer - Mechanical, Fleet Remediation Engineering

As an Amazon Project Design Mechanical Engineer, you will lead design projects in operational data centers, addressing remediation issues, upgrading existing infrastructure, or adding new services. You will be the go-to engineering resource for these projects and provide lifecycle support from design through implementation. You will apply your mechanical expertise to own the design for data center upgrades, review design and equipment submittals, and interface with internal and external teams to promote standards that ensure consistency and reliability.
Role focuses on supporting construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover. You may work on concurrent projects in multiple geographical regions and act as a technical subject matter expert during remediation projects. The position involves coordinating with teams across data centers and traveling as needed.
Responsibilities- Own the design for existing data center upgrades and design-solutions that add infrastructure, capacity, improve availability, and/or increase sustainability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal reviews for data centers in your region.
- Interface with internal and external data center design engineering teams, server hardware team, environmental health and safety team, field engineering, and controls engineering to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability of services.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Act as technical subject matter expert for your discipline during new remediation projects.
- Support construction, commissioning, operations, and turnover.
- Mentor and oversee the work of junior engineers in your discipline; prepare and present progress reports to stakeholders; and prioritize activities to support data center safety, remediation, capacity, and availability.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
- 2+ cumulative years of design experience with industrial or commercial engineering in Mission Critical facilities (Experienced Engineer).
- Organized with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage budgets.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
- Ability to carry design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment.
- Excellent communication and writing skills, attention to detail, and high quality standards.
