Deputy Payroll Manager

An opportunity has arisen for a Deputy Payroll Manager at NHS Highland. In this role, you'll focus on driving improvements to boost efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring value for money, and taking the lead on various projects. You'll also stand in for the Payroll Manager at local, regional, and national forums or project groups.
The position requires specialist knowledge of procedures and practices related to all NHS Terms and Conditions of service, local agreements, and statutory legislation. However, applications from candidates with managerial experience, backgrounds in complex payroll environments, or experience leading larger payroll teams will also be considered.
Applicants should have a professional payroll qualification or demonstrate relevant experience, along with proven leadership abilities. Strong customer service skills are essential, as is adaptability to change and the ability to handle queries confidently and professionally from both internal staff and external official bodies on all pay-related matters.
This full time role is based at Assynt House in Inverness, offering hybrid working options. Remote working may be available for candidates with significant NHS Payroll experience-please inquire for more information.

Additional Information for Candidates- Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part time hours will be adjusted on a pro rate basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
