Deputy Head of Faculty - Land & Environment

Location: Duchy College - Stoke. Salary: £38,059.00 per annum. Terms & Conditions: Full Time (37 hours/52 weeks), Teaching Contract. Closing Date: 16 August 2026.

About the Role

Duchy College is looking for an ambitious and experienced individual to join our Land & Environment department in a unique dual role combining leadership with hands on teaching. This opportunity is for someone passionate about agriculture and education, ready to advance their career.

Approximately half of the role involves teaching agriculture programmes, helping learners develop practical skills, knowledge and behaviours needed for careers in land based industries. The remaining half focuses on working with the Head of Faculty to lead curriculum quality, support staff development and drive an outstanding learner experience.

As Deputy Head of Faculty, you will support leadership and management of the Land & Environment provision, drive high standards of teaching, learning and assessment, contribute to curriculum development and support quality improvement across the faculty.

Skills & Experience

We are seeking an experienced agricultural professional passionate about education and developing others. The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience teaching or training within agriculture or a related land based subject.
  • Recent experience leading or supporting teams within Further Education.
  • Holding or willingness to achieve a recognised teaching qualification within three years of appointment.
  • A Level 3 or higher qualification in an agricultural or land based discipline.
  • Strong industry knowledge across a range of agricultural practices, including experience of agricultural machinery.
  • Commitment to delivering high quality education, driving continuous improvement and supporting learners and colleagues through excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills.
