Are you looking to make a difference to the lives of young people with severe, complex, or moderate learning difficulties and disabilities? Would you like to be part of a team that is passionate about every individual person?

At Sheiling College we provide holistic, innovative, and effective education in the classroom and residential houses to match the interests, skills, and aspirations of our students and to meet their individual needs. Our College students study at Entry 1-3 and have diverse needs including ASD, Sensory Processing Difficulties & behaviours that can challenge.

We have a large, beautiful site with lots of open, green spaces and woodland that provides a peaceful, therapeutic setting and a dynamic teaching environment. Within the 45 acres are classrooms, student residential accommodation (large, spacious houses), a purpose-built therapy building, a multipurpose hall (with a large stage for performances), a gymnasium, a shallow heated indoor swimming pool, a variety of indoor and outdoor workshops and a large kitchen garden which provide ample opportunity for creative, experiential learning.

We are looking for a dynamic and inspirational leader with a genuine passion for working with young people aged 19-25, who holds relevant experience and a proven track record in SEN operational management and leadership. Working alongside the Head of College, you will lead a well-established team of teachers and support professionals graded 'Good' by Ofsted (June 2024).

You'll have:

  • B.Ed. or degree, plus a PGCE (or alternative teaching qualification)
  • Proven leadership and management experience in an education setting
  • Excellent teaching ability and experience of driving outstanding teaching and learning
  • Demonstrable experience in Safeguarding and Curriculum Development

Key priorities will be:

  • Managing operational logistics for the College provision
  • Ensuring high standards of teaching and learning, support, and opportunities for students
  • Leading aspects of the development and delivery of Curriculum and Accredited Learning
  • Modelling exemplary standards of work, teaching and organisation, and professional conduct
