Job Description
Flexible working

We support full time, part-time, compressed, job share and other flexible working patterns. Due to the nature of our work this is an office-based role, therefore opportunities for remote working and/or working from home are not possible.

The role

As one of our Delivery Managers, you'll work with a variety of teams across MI6 to deliver our most complex, business critical products. It's a fast-paced role where you'll roll out niche software that directly impacts our mission. And where you'll get to see your products in action as you provide support beyond the initial delivery.

Along with handling your own products, you'll also line manage a team of Associate Delivery Managers, coaching them and colleagues across MI6 in Agile best practices. As you provide support, training and advice, you'll become a trusted voice for your team and for senior stakeholders throughout the organisation.

You'll often be responding to urgent business needs. So, there'll be plenty of variety in the products you deliver and also the opportunity to get involved in exciting new projects working with the Cloud and AI. If you're interested, there may be opportunities for both national and international travel available.

About you

You'll have experience leading IT application delivery in an Agile environment, as well as experience line managing a team. Beyond this, you'll need to be able to demonstrate your knowledge and past use of Agile and Lean processes, showing your ability to coach others in best practice.

You'll be energised by working in a fast paced environment, able to take initiative and motivate your team, and thrive managing complex projects. As you work in partnership with stakeholders across the organisation, you'll also be able to translate technical information to help your colleagues make decisions. And you'll be great at building and maintaining relationships.

Finally, you'll be passionate about your work. Someone who's committed to mitigating risks and providing value to customers, who can manage budgets and ensure projects are delivered effectively and on time. And who can help elevate MI6's digital programme by ensuring our products are both fit for purpose and rolled out smoothly.

  • British citizenship or dual British nationality.
  • Highest security clearance (Developed Vetting).
Training and development

There's a comprehensive training and development pathway on offer, which uses the Government Digital and Data Profession Capability Framework (GDDPCF). It includes tailored training, coaching and mentoring, alongside opportunities to gain qualifications and pursue specialist Agile Delivery pathways, if this interests you.

You'll also be enrolled in our internal training pathway, which will allow you to develop your skills in Agile Delivery Management with training like ICAgile and ICP-ACC Agile Coaching. What's more, you'll have access to on the job training and a buddy scheme, where you can benefit from the expertise of your colleagues.

After you've joined, you'll be expected to validate your professional skills using the GDDPC framework within your probation period. We'll guide you on how to demonstrate this effectively. As you grow your professional skills and develop, you'll have the chance to further progress through the framework's pay points.

Rewards and benefits

Starting salary: £74,052. And other benefits include:

  • 25 Days Annual Leave automatically rising to 30 days after 5 years' service, and an additional 10.5 days public and privilege holidays.
  • Opportunities to be recognised through our employee performance scheme.
  • Interest free season ticket loan.
  • Excellent pension scheme.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Facilities such as a gym, restaurant and on site coffee bars (at some locations).
  • Paid parental and adoption leave.
Equal opportunities

At MI6 diversity and inclusion are critical to our mission. To protect the UK, we need a truly diverse workforce that reflects the society we serve. This includes diversity in every sense of the word: those with different backgrounds, ages, ethnicities, gender identities, sexual orientations, ways of thinking and those with disabilities or neurodivergent conditions. We therefore welcome and encourage applications from everyone, including those from groups that are under represented in our workforce such as women, those from an ethnic minority background, people with disabilities and those from low socio economic backgrounds.
