Delivery Driver

About the Role

As one of our Customer Delivery Drivers, you'll bring the unique blend of quality Waitrose produce and partner led service right to our customers' doors, actively playing out our ethos - passionate Partners serving food lovers. When you're not out on the road, you'll support the team with daily tasks such as stock replenishment and housekeeping, contributing to the efficient and productive running of the shop in a friendly and welcoming environment. In addition to your contractual pay, any time worked between 22:00 - 06:00 will attract Night Premium at a rate of £3.75 per hour. This also applies to existing Partners who have enrolled onto Enhanced Hours Premium arrangements. Due to the role's nature, you must be 18years or older.

Key Responsibilities

• Check your delivery routes for the day.
• Load and prepare your van for deliveries, ensuring all orders are together and can be efficiently delivered directly to customers.
• Ensure all vehicle safety checks are complete, maintaining full road compliance, health and safety.
• Act as an ambassador for the Waitrose brand on the road, with excellent customer service as your number one priority.
• Help customers with their shopping and build rapport with them based on trust and service.
• Support the wider shop team when required with general shop keeping tasks.

Essential Skills / Experience

• Full valid B Category UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points.
• Great customer service skills.
• Time management skills.
• Ability to cope with the physical requirements of the role (e.g. lifting of crates, moving cages).
• Comfortable working independently with the ability to be self motivated and adaptable.
• IT literate.

Desirable Skills / Experience

• Previous experience in a driving role.
• Knowledge of chilled vehicles would be welcomed.

Workplace: Ipswich (Waitrose & Partners), Crane Boulevard, Ipswich, Suffolk, IP3 9SQ.

Hours of Work (varied):

• Vacancy 1 - Monday: 06:45 - 14:45, Sunday: 06:45 - 14:45, Friday: 14:00 - 22:00.
• Vacancy 2 - Saturday: 06:45 - 14:45, Sunday: 13:30 - 21:30, Wednesday: 06:15 - 14:15.

Pay and Benefits

Pay: £14.31 hourly. Permanent contract type. Night Premium of £3.75 per hour for shifts 22:00 - 06:00.
