About The Role

Working hours: 35 hours per week

Contract type: Time limited for 12 months

Working style: Hybrid - employees split their time between working remotely and working on-site.

Role Summary

This 12 month time-limited role belongs to the Adult Social Care team within the Performance Research & Intelligence service. The service delivers evidence and intelligence to support decision makers in Manchester. You will support this function by ensuring the data needed for decision making is structured and accessible to a wide range of staff.

The role is based in the People team and reports to the Senior Data Officer. You will be involved and lead on projects that support our Mental Health Social Care teams, enabling them to understand and develop services that provide the best outcomes for residents.

You will:
  • Develop high quality reports using SAP BusinessObjects, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI.
  • Use SQL to extract data from a Data Warehouse.
  • Present information in a clear, organised manner so stakeholders can make operational and strategic decisions.
  • Interpret business requirements to produce reports or datasets within agreed deadlines and specifications.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and external partners to plan work and upgrades of a Data Warehouse.
  • Manage data pipelines that extract data from source systems, transform it and load it into a Data Warehouse.
  • Submit statutory data returns to central government on behalf of Adult Social Care.
  • Configure databases to meet statutory return specifications.
About the Candidate

We are looking for a candidate who balances technical data skills with strong communication and problem solving abilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication - able to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
  • Highly motivated, enthusiastic and assertive, demonstrating the Our Manchester behaviours.
  • Proficient in SQL, data marts and data formatting for pipelines.
  • Experience developing data, performance and dashboard reports in Business Objects, PowerBI, Tableau or similar.
  • Strong relationship building skills with team members, stakeholders and external partners.
  • An interest in innovation and technology, willing to learn and apply new skills.
  • Sound professional judgement and the ability to handle competing priorities while maintaining Data Protection and information security guidelines.
  • Experience working with service delivery teams and understanding how they use data to support services.
