Join us in shaping a data-driven future! In this role, you'll help ensure our data is accurate, consistent, and trustworthy, powering smarter decisions and exceptional member experiences.
You'll work closely with business and technical teams to improve data quality, resolve issues, and deliver actionable insights that create real value. Your expertise will build confidence in our data and enable colleagues across the Society to make informed choices that benefit our members and communities.
Here's a taste of what you will be doing as a Data Quality Analyst at Nottingham Building Society:
- Develop Insightful Dashboards: Create and maintain data quality dashboards and reports to monitor and improve data health.
- Spot Trends & Anomalies: Identify patterns and issues in critical data sets that could impact member experience or compliance.
- Profile & Assess Data: Use data profiling techniques to check completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and consistency across core domains.
- Investigate & Resolve Issues: Analyse root causes of data quality problems and collaborate with teams for sustainable fixes.
- Define Quality Standards: Establish and maintain data quality rules and thresholds aligned with business and regulatory needs.
- Champion Data Accountability: Embed a culture of ownership, ensuring teams take responsibility for the data they create and use.
- Engage & Communicate: Present dashboards and issue logs at forums, act on feedback, and partner with stakeholders to drive improvements.
- Support Governance & Processes: Work with Data Stewards and Owners to enhance processes, document standards, and uphold governance.
- Data Quality Expertise: Proven experience in data quality, data analysis, or data governance roles, ideally within financial services.
- Analytical & Detail-Oriented: Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail and ability to explain data issues in business terms.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in SQL for querying and profiling data, advanced Excel, and experienced with Power BI for reporting and visualisation.
- Governance Knowledge: Familiarity with data governance principles (lineage, stewardship, ownership) and regulatory requirements (GDPR, FCA, PRA).
- Tooling Experience: Exposure to data quality tools such as Informatica, Talend, or Collibra is desirable.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent stakeholder management, data storytelling skills, and ability to convey insights to non-technical audiences.
- Mindset & Behaviours: Curious, proactive, and quality-driven; empathetic, inclusive, and a positive team player who thrives on continuous improvement.
- Qualifications & Growth: Degree in a quantitative or analytical discipline (or equivalent experience), Power BI Data Analyst certification (PL-300), and commitment to ongoing learning.
