Data Platform Director

Overview

With the Migration of legacy data onto GCP almost done, the challenge now is to define & deliver a path forward towards a GCP native environment, and the Data Platform Director will be responsible for this.

How do we now use & optimise the platform we have?

How do we integrate Data Ops tools?

How do we integrate reporting tools?

etc

Our client require an expert who can lead & deliver on Technical Strategy. Someone who has the knowledge & expertise to challenge the current Data Stack if necessary and advise on improvements & why.

The individual will lead a team of 100 persons locally, with another approx. 1000 outsourced.

Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the strategy to move to a GCP-native data platform.
• Assess and optimise the existing data platform and tooling.
• Lead integration of Data Ops tools and reporting tools.
• Provide strategic challenges to the current Data Stack and justify improvements.
• Lead a team of 100 locally and approximately 1,000 outsourced resources.

Outsourcing

The business currently has contracts with TCS, Cap Gemini, Accenture + a few other smaller firms. The Ideal candidate would have strong knowledge of outsourcing and would have experience of restructuring outsourcing contracts & processes in the past based on strategic best practice, and be able to bring this to bear at VMO2 and manage this piece.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of outsourcing with proven experience restructuring outsourcing contracts & processes in line with strategic best practice.
• Experience leading outsourcing efforts at scale and applying best-practice approaches to a program or organization.
• Ability to lead large, distributed teams (local and outsourced) and deliver on technical strategy.
