Data Ops Engineer - Hybrid - 12 months

Global Enterprise Partners is currently looking for a Data Ops Engineer with strong experience of Azure data platforms and data pipeline operations & observability for a project in Europe (hybrid) for an initial 6-12 months.
Our client is running a large-scale enterprise data platform optimisation programme and they are looking for a Data Ops Engineer to assist them with data platform operations, incident management, and reliability improvements.

Data Ops Engineer Requirements:

• 3-5+ years' experience as a Data Ops Engineer/Data Platform Engineer/SRE (data-focused)
• Strong experience of cloud data platform operations (Azure preferred)
• Hands-on experience with pipeline monitoring, alerting, and observability tools (Azure Monitor, Databricks monitoring, PagerDuty, OpsGenie)
• Proven experience in incident management, triage, escalation, and RCA documentation
• Knowledge of Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates)
• Experience with Kubernetes-based orchestration (AKS, containerised workloads)
• Experience managing CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
• Strong understanding of FinOps principles and cloud cost optimisation (budget tracking, rightsizing, Databricks DBU monitoring)
• Familiarity with data platform reliability engineering (SLAs, SLOs, error budgets)
• Experience with enterprise environments, ideally in regulated industries
• Understanding of SAP integration dependencies and critical data pipelines (nice to have)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders
• Fluent in English

Certifications (Preferred):

• Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate
• Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert
• Databricks Certified Associate Developer
• HashiCorp Terraform Associate
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor data pipelines and overall platform health
• Manage incidents and operational issues across the data platform
• Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions
• Support platform reliability, performance, and cost optimisation
• Collaborate with engineering teams to improve platform robustness
• Ensure operational SLA adherence across finance, supply chain, and reporting domains
• Maintain security and compliance baseline (Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud)
