Job Description

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Data Governance & Data Quality Specialist to join our Operations and Data Department (ODD), reporting to the Head of ODD and Chief Data Officer (CDO).

This role will play a key part in strengthening the Bank's Data Governance and Data Quality capabilities, ensuring improved data reliability, control, and alignment with regulatory expectations such as BCBS239.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical thinking with a practical mindset, able to work across business and technology teams to structure data processes, resolve data issues, and support the Bank's data governance roadmap.


Main Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the implementation and continuous improvement of the Bank's Data Governance and Data Quality framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and internal standards.
  • Work closely with Data Owners and Data Stewards to establish clear ownership, maintain governance artefacts (such as data dictionaries, business glossaries, and data flows), and ensure consistent documentation and traceability of key data elements.
  • Define and monitor Data Quality controls and KPIs, while managing the lifecycle of data issues from identification through analysis and remediation, ensuring proper follow-up and resolution.
  • Support the improvement of data lineage, consistency, and reliability across operational processes, internal reporting, and regulatory submissions, contributing to the Bank's BCBS239 roadmap.
  • Identify opportunities to improve data-related processes and data flows, working with Technology and business teams to reduce manual interventions, enhance automation, and strengthen overall data usability and control.
  • Contribute to improving the quality and reliability of data used in operational, financial, and risk reporting, ensuring it is fit for decision-making and regulatory purposes.


Requirements

Experience & Background

  • Degree in Data Management, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in data governance, data quality, data management, or similar roles, ideally within financial services.


Relevant Skills

  • Solid understanding of data governance and data quality principles, including data controls, KPIs, and issue management processes.
  • Familiarity with data lineage, metadata management, and critical data element concepts, as well as basic awareness of regulatory expectations such as BCBS239.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to structure topics and work across both business and technology stakeholders.
  • Good communication skills and ability to operate in a structured and collaborative environment.
  • Fluency in English.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in banking or financial services.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting (e.g., COREP, FINREP) or data governance programs.
  • Prior involvement in BCBS239 or similar regulatory data initiatives.
  • Exposure to modern data governance and catalog platforms such as Microsoft Purview, as well as open-source solutions like Apache Atlas or OpenMetadata.
  • Experience with reporting and visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
