Please visit About Role: As part of the Data Centre team the DCS will maintain, monitor and operate the Cognizant Data Centre to Cognizant service level commitments and best practices. Will also assist other data center teams to build and support customer projects and environments as the needs arise. Who are you? Assist DC Support personnel with Hands and eyes requests. Escort vendors and support staff for changes and break-fix. Maintain the appearance and integrity of the facility with regular walkthroughs. Chaperone visitors and 3rd party engineers where required. Maintain asset location information utilising installed DCIM tools and CMDB. Knowledge of Service Now and Ticket Processing Open, Update and close Service Requests. Shipping and receiving of good into the data centre. Maintain the Goods In/Out tracking spreadsheet. Understand proper power cord management inside of raised floor racks. Understand rack power load balancing and reading power reports. Update rack elevations and floor drawings. Monitor and record statistics relevant to data centre operations and produce appropriate reports. Conduct physical troubleshooting as required including basic checks on copper and fiber cabling. Provide feedback to data centre manager and contribute suggestions for operational improvement. Develop and maintain strong relationships with 3rd party facility staff. Assist data centre manager & customers with facility tours when requested. Hardware installation of rack mounted equipment. Cable installation and testing to data centre standards where required. Other duties as may be assigned by the data centre manager. What do you bring? Experience of working in a multi-tenant enterprise class data center hosting environment. Must be customer-focused and have basic interpretation of what the customer is requesting/expecting. Ability to work well with a very large team and loop in other SMEs to support customer needs. Working knowledge of physical network and cabling technologies. Excellent communication skills and ability to clearly articulate technical issues. Ability to work independently and manage multiple work streams whilst dealing with interruptions. Fault isolation and troubleshooting skills, previous experience in a technical support role is a plus. One or more supporting IT equipment or relate technology experience. Basic facilities knowledge such as HVAC, power, security and safety. Understanding of network patch panels, patching and cable labelling standards. Understanding of MS-Office skills, O365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, etc. Understanding of RMA Break-fix processing. Understanding Rack Elevations & Floor Drawings and Cable/Patching documents. Flexible attitude to working patterns, will be required to work extra hours including occasional weekends and after hours to support changes during maintenance windows Exceptional ability to work as part of a team, provide IT support and resolve errors. 24/7 monitor/support. Ticket system knowledge such as ServiceNow, Remedy, etc. Will be required to work as part of an on-call rotation team. Should live within 30 miles / 30 minutes of the data centre location. Work in multiple customer cages at the Data Center Campus. Understanding of patching documents and how to print end to end labels and affix to cables. Ability to multi-task and communicate status.
