Data Centre Management Specialist for ON-site at EU-client - Europeans only

We are looking for one SENIOR DATA CENTRE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST (Freelance) for STRASBOURG (at least 60% on-site) with EU-passport to start a 6-month contract (initial, extensions possible, this role will last years) for a famous EU-agency-client.
Start date: in 4-8 weeks or earlier when you have an existing EU-Security-clearance.

JOB DESCRIPTION

SENIOR DATA CENTRE MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST - STRASBOURG (Freelance)
Hybrid role: 60% onsite in Strasbourg, 40% nearby/proximity. Long-term assignment in an international agency environment.
FOCUS: Data Centre operations, infrastructure upgrades, facilities (power & cooling), vendor management, best practices. Key role in mission-critical Data Centre operations & upgrade.

WHERE
The role is hybrid (at least 60% onsite Strasbourg, 40% nearby/proximity) and offers a stable, long-term assignment within a leading European Agency.
Applicants MUST BE ELIGIBLE to work in the specified location. 

TASKS

• Drive maintenance & upgrade activities for Data Centre infrastructure & facilities
• Perform capacity planning (power, cooling, racks)
• Oversee technical studies, documentation, and risk analyses
• Vendor management & stakeholder communication
• Troubleshooting, Incident & Problem Management
• Draft/review technical documentation & reports (eg power consumption)
• Contribute to carbon footprint reduction initiatives
• Act as expert in Data Centre projects, applying industry best practices

SKILLS

• Minimum 9 years of relevant professional experience
• At least 3 years with mission-critical infrastructure in highly distributed environments
• Hands-on with OEMs (Cisco, Checkpoint, IBM, EMC, HP, Dell, NetApp, etc.)
• Deep knowledge of racks, power/cooling, patching, cabling, DR/BCP
• Familiar with UNIX/Linux/Windows virtualisation & IaaS
• Experience in vendor management & project planning
• Strong communication skills with technical & business stakeholders
• EU Secret clearance (or readiness to obtain)

Security Requirements

• SECRET EU/EU SECRET: The profile owner shall possess a Personnel Security Clearance for accessing EU Classified Information, at least for level EU SECRET.
• In case the person does not possess such clearance, then a fresh criminal record certificate (not older than 30 days from the signature of the Specific Contract) of the chosen candidate should be provided, together with the written proof that this security clearance process was initiated (up to level EU SECRET), and a copy of their national ID document/Passport, prior starting the work.
• Declaration of confidentiality and protection of the information system and of non-conflict of interest document will be signed by the selected person at latest at the starting date (preferably to be submitted together with the criminal record and the copy of national ID document).

BACKGROUND

• Our client is an international organisation and a great reference in any CV! English speaking environment.
• This role will be 100% onsite
• This is a real long-term contract with possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability (initial 110 day contract, where longterm extensions are foreseen).
• EU nationals ONLY (due to the "EU" security certifications required). We can't accept any longer UK-consultants, as long they don't have EU-security-clearance or another EU-citizenship (Please note, after Brexit the UK-consultants can't get any longer "EU" security clearances, which is mandatory for this position).
• Start date in 4-8 weeks. Earlier when you have an existing EU-security-clearance. We will support your request to get a SC clearance but this application might delay start by some weeks.
• This position requires "security clearance level: EU SECRET". If the candidate doesn't have a Security Clearance (SC) yet, then he/she can start working, when presenting:
  - A fresh criminal record (from his/her home country), plus ID-card copy.
  Our company is holding "FSC - Facility Security Clearance", so we are able to guide/sponsor you through the "PSC - Personal Security Clearance" procedure.
