Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Civil Engineer to join the Civil, Structural & Architectural (CSA) Design Team in Dublin, Ireland.

Responsibilities

• Working with other design and engineering professionals on concepts and build projects.
• Creating, reviewing and releasing data center Civil Engineering designs.
• Managing the portfolio of data center designs and features.
• Development and maintenance of CSA Basis of Design, prototype design, and template specifications for civil engineering systems.
• Serve as a technical advisor for AWS DC design projects including review of civil engineering designs (roads, drainage, civil site works, bulk earthworks, cut/fill analysis, retaining walls); evaluating design options and assessing calculation assumptions.
• Evaluating reports and creating scope for geotechnical investigation testing.
• Creating, reviewing and releasing civil engineering design Requests For Pricing.
• Manage external design consultants.
• Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers.
• Lead initiatives aimed at improving cost, quality, schedule, and consistency.
• Work on multiple data center build and capital investment projects simultaneously.
• Travel for site assessments, consultant selection activities, internal design meetings, construction review, interface with AHJs, design consultants, quantity surveyors, and building owners.
• Anticipated travel not to exceed 25%.
• Demonstrated ability to evaluate the constructability of new technologies, and determine construction methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Perform and present business case analysis.
• Solid working proficiency with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Office Suite.

BASICS QUALIFICATIONS

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Chartered Engineer in Ireland or equivalent overseas accreditation.
• 6-8 years of experience in civil engineering design for industrial, warehouse, or commercial projects.
• Detailed understanding of all aspects of civil engineering including but not limited to roads design, drainage systems, bulk earthworks, retaining walls, slope stability.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Master's degree in civil engineering.
• Experience managing a team of designers to deliver packages to milestone dates.
• Experience across disciplines such as structural, architectural, environmental engineering.
• 5+ years of experience directly related to DC or mission critical facility design.
• Detailed understanding of building construction, forensic analysis of building design and construction defects, and evaluating value engineering for building super structure.
• Basic understanding of large scale mechanical and electrical system components and designs.
• Direct experience with the design, construction, operation, or maintenance of DCs.
