Excellent freelance opportunity for Data Catalog and Data Governance Specialist to join a global organisation in Geneva.

Rates:

Onsite: 990 CHF per day

Nearshore: 670 CHF per day

Duration: 05 months - starting from August (with possibility of extension)

Required Experience:

Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in Data Catalog, Metadata Management, Data Governance, or related enterprise data management initiatives.

Hands-on experience with Informatica Data Catalog (Cloud Data Governance and Catalog) is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of metadata management, business glossaries, data lineage, data quality, and data governance practices.

Demonstrated experience engaging with business and technical stakeholders and translating business requirements into practical data management solutions.

Excellent communication, training, facilitation, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.

Proficiency in English.

Assess current data catalog, metadata management, and data governance needs, with particular attention to the Customer Domain and the ongoing CRM initiative.

Engage with business and technical stakeholders to identify priority data assets, metadata requirements, ownership gaps, stewardship needs, and pain points in the creation, maintenance, and consumption of customer data.

Document data catalog and governance requirements, including key data flows, systems, dependencies, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Develop a pragmatic data catalog approach, including priority use cases, recommended metadata standards, onboarding criteria, and a roadmap for implementation and adoption.

Objective:

The objective of this consultancy is to support the development and operationalization of a fit-for- purpose data catalog and related metadata management practices, while embedding practical data governance tasks into the work. The consultant will help define priority data catalog use cases, clarify ownership and stewardship for key data assets, and support the Data Office in improving data maturity, data quality, and the value realization of organizational data assets.

Scope of Work:

The consultant will be responsible for the following tasks:

• Assessment and Requirements Gathering
• Data Catalog and Metadata Management
• Support metadata management initiatives by identifying, documenting, and promoting high- value metadata and data catalog use cases, including opportunities related to AI readiness and responsible AI adoption.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify opportunities for improving data maturity, data-driven decision-making, and the overall value realization of organizational data assets.
• Support the establishment and operationalization of Data Governance, including the definition of data domains, ownership, stewardship, and accountability models, starting with the Customer Domain in alignment with the ongoing CRM initiative.
• Develop a Customer Data Governance Framework that clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of business and technical stakeholders involved in the creation, maintenance, and consumption of customer data.
• Support the governance of key customer concepts, including customer life cycle, journey, experience, interactions, and value, to enable a consistent organization-wide understanding of customer data within the Customer Domain.
• Contribute to data quality, governance, compliance, and audit-related activities by preparing documentation, evidence, assessments, and recommendations as required.
• Assist in the design, coordination, and delivery of the Data Literacy Program, including the preparation of training materials, workshops, presentations, and awareness campaigns on Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Literacy topics.
• Provide analytical and operational support to the CDO and the team on strategic and ad hoc initiatives related to data governance, data culture, data management, and organizational change.
• Undertake any other duties, analyses, assessments, or initiatives assigned by the Chief Data Officer (CDO) or the Data Office in support of data strategy, governance, and transformation objectives.

The consultant will be responsible for delivering the following:

• Current State and Requirements Assessment: Summary of current metadata, data catalog, and governance needs, including pain points and stakeholder requirements.
• Data Catalog Strategy and Roadmap: Practical approach for data catalog implementation, including priority use cases, metadata standards, onboarding criteria, milestones, and adoption recommendations.
• Customer Data Governance Framework: Roles, responsibilities, ownership, stewardship, accountability model, and governance processes for the Customer Domain.
• Metadata and Use Case Documentation: Documentation of high-value metadata and data catalog use cases, including AI readiness and responsible AI adoption opportunities.
• Data Quality, Compliance, and Audit Support Pack: Documentation, evidence, assessments, and recommendations supporting data quality, governance, compliance, and audit-related activities.
• Data Literacy Materials and Workshop Support: Training materials, presentations, workshop content, and awareness materials for Data Governance, Data Management, and Data Literacy topics.
• Final Report: Summary of work completed, key decisions, risks, lessons learned, and recommendations for sustained data catalog adoption and data governance operationalization.
