Data Cabling Engineer - Nottingham - 6 month contract - ASAP start - On-site

About the Role

My Client is seeking an experienced Data Cabling Engineer for a 6-month contract, working on field-based projects across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join a fast-paced, growing team delivering high-quality data and fibre infrastructure solutions to clients nationwide.

You'll be responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining structured cabling systems, including copper and fibre optic networks. A flexible, proactive attitude is essential, as is the ability to travel and stay away from home when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Installation, termination, and testing of CAT5e, CAT6, and CAT6a cabling
• Installation and splicing of single-mode and multi-mode fibre optic cables
• Testing all cabling to BS EN50173 standards using Fluke DSX 5000 Versiv
• Installation of cable containment systems (eg, Galv, PVC)
• Installation of Wi-Fi equipment and accessories
• Full cabinet and racking installations
• Conducting detailed site surveys to prepare for new installations
• Liaising with customers onsite, providing updates on project progress

Requirements

Essential:

• Proven experience in data cabling and fibre optic installations
• Ability to travel extensively and stay away from home when required
• Full UK Driving Licence
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Desirable:

• Experience with fibre optic splicing (training can be provided)
• IPAF license (highly advantageous)
• CSCS card
• IPath license
• Additional network or structured cabling certifications
