Data Architect - Remote - 6 months - Government Experience

Role Title: Data Architect
Location: Remote
Duration: 6months +
Rate: £504 Inside IR35

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of AWS-based data architectures to support analytics, reporting, and operational systems.
• Define data ingestion, transformation, and storage strategies using AWS native services.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, data engineers, and business analysts to ensure solutions meet requirements.
• Optimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with data security, governance, and GDPR standards.
• Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and best practice guidance to the wider engineering team.
• Create and maintain detailed architecture diagrams, documentation, and data models.

Essential Skills & Experience:

• Proven experience as a Data Architect on AWS cloud platforms.
• Strong expertise with AWS services such as S3, Redshift, Glue, Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, RDS, Athena.
• Hands-on experience with ETL design and data pipeline development.
• Proficiency in data modelling and designing for both OLAP and OLTP systems.
• Strong understanding of security best practices and IAM policies in AWS.
• Experience with Python or PySpark for data processing.
• Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable Skills:

• Experience in the UK public sector with GDS-aligned delivery.
• Active SC clearance.
• Knowledge of streaming data solutions and event-driven architectures.
