We are supporting a consultancy delivering a central government data migration programme and are seeking an experienced Data Architect with strong MariaDB expertise to lead the technical design and migration approach.

This role focuses on migrating Legacy SQL-based data into an AWS environment, with MariaDB as the primary target database and AWS S3 used for storage and staging.

Key Responsibilities

• Define the target data architecture with MariaDB at its core
• Design and oversee migration from Legacy SQL platforms into MariaDB and AWS S3
• Define data models, schemas and optimisation strategies in MariaDB
• Ensure data quality, integrity, security and governance standards are met
• Provide architectural guidance throughout the migration life cycle
• Work closely with analysts, engineers and stakeholders to support delivery

Essential Experience

• Proven experience as a Data Architect in central government
• Strong hands-on experience designing and delivering solutions using MariaDB
• Experience migrating data from Legacy SQL systems into MariaDB
• Solid AWS experience, particularly S3
• Strong understanding of data governance and security in regulated environments
• Excellent stakeholder communication skills
• Active SC clearance is essential
