Contract Type: Fixed-Term Apprenticeship, Full-time for 18 months

Salary: £22,950 (+£5,441 London Weighting)

As a Data Analyst apprentice (DAA26) you'll join a dynamic, collaborative team where your learning goes beyond the basics. You'll work on meaningful projects that shape the BBC's future, while developing skills in machine learning, data visualisation, and ethical data use. You'll gain professional confidence and a clear path toward a successful data career. You'll get hands-on experience with A/B testing and experiment analysis, learning how to use statistics to support product decision-making, in a supportive team.

Your responsibilities and impact

As a Data Analyst apprentice, you will learn, grow, and contribute by:

  • A/B testing (split testing) and Experimental Design
  • Statistical Analysis and Communicating Insights
  • Data Processing with Python Pandas
  • Data Visualisation (Power BI and Tableau)
  • Data Science for Business
  • Databases & Structured Query Language (SQL)
  • Text Mining Software and Platforms
  • Introduction to Machine Learning
  • Time Series Analysis
  • Data Privacy, Ethics & Regulations

You'll study for your industry recognised apprenticeship qualification, learning both on and off the job. You'll spend at least one day a week studying for a Level 4 Data Analyst qualification from our external Learning Provider. You will be supported with career development, employability training, and networking opportunities to help you take your next step within the BBC or elsewhere in the industry. Your skills and eligibility

This scheme is aimed at non-graduates. If you have a degree and you're interested in similar roles at the BBC, consider other BBC careers or apprenticeship schemes.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible for an apprenticeship at the BBC, you must:

  • Be 18 years old or over by the start in September 2026
  • Have lived in the UK continuously for the last 3 years prior to the start
  • Be legally eligible to work full-time in the UK for the entire duration
  • Not currently be enrolled in another apprenticeship programme
  • Not have completed or hold qualifications in the apprenticeship subject at the same or higher level

  • Have maths and English GCSE at Grade 4/C or above or equivalent qualification
  • Have achieved, or expected to achieve, by the start of the scheme A Level/Higher Maths
