Data Analysis Software Manager

Infinitesima was spun out of the University of Bristol in 2001 and has been developing innovative metrology solutions which improve speed and precision in the manufacture of semiconductors. The company's technology combines the 3-dimensional surface detection capability of atomic force microscopy (AFM), with high-speed laser activation and the accuracy of interferometry. The Rapid Probe Microscope (RPM ) is protected by an extensive patent portfolio. The company's RPM technology is being used by leading semiconductor equipment companies globally. Semiconductor devices provide the foundations on which progress in the technology sector are enabled. From Smartphones to Artificial Intelligence, 5G communications to autonomous vehicles, all are made possible through advances in semiconductor processes. Scaling these processes requires sub-nanometer measurement of increasingly complex 3D structures to enable more powerful devices.

Reports To

The position of Data Analysis Software (Senior) Manager reports to the Senior Director Design & Engineering.

Primary Purpose

The position of DA Software Manager provides a key leadership role within the Infinitesima cross-functional engineering team. The individual is responsible for the on-time delivery of high-quality software for our complex metrology products and for working closely with your peers in Research & Development, systems engineering, Product management and applications.

Our data is typically (but not limited to) 3-dimensional height profiles gathered from an AFM.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Lead a team of data scientists in their delivery of high quality, fault-tolerant software, often in a time sensitive manner.
• Own the Data Science strategy for the company and be able to communicate effectively with the other functions/departments.
• People management of your team - career development, recruitment, mentoring, training, appraisals.
• Project management - Working with a project lead, create, track and report against project plans for your team and supporting their integration into an overall program plan, including maintaining and managing technical debt.
• Build appropriate processes to support continuous improvement.
• Work effectively within a complex cross-functional multi-disciplinary environment.
• Ensuring effective use of external partners to expand software delivery capabilities.
• Hands on technical contribution (where bandwidth permits).

Professional Skills / Abilities

• Team lead and people management experience.
• Agile experience and pragmatic application of agile/lean methodologies to development in a multi disciplinary environment.
• Working with external partners as part of overall software delivery.
• Knowledge of the software development cycle, and programming best practices.
• Experience working with 3 d images highly preferable.
• Good verbal and written skills in English.
• Self motivated and able to support and inspire a team to do their best work.
• Pragmatic and collaborative

Education & Qualifications

• 5 years' experience in a software development role and 5 years' experience in technical and people management role.
• Degree educated in Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
• Other scientific/technical disciplines considered if backed by relevant software experience.
• Experience at an international level in Infinitesima's core technology areas.
