Customs Clerk

Location: Dublin
Salary: Up to €45,000
Hybrid Working: 1 day per week from home
Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

A growing global logistics company is looking for an experienced Customs Clerk to join its Dublin team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and processing customs documentation while ensuring shipments remain compliant with all relevant customs regulations.

The Role

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and submitting import and export customs declarations
  • Completing customs documentation accurately and within required deadlines
  • Ensuring all shipments comply with current customs procedures and regulations
  • Classifying goods using the correct commodity codes
  • Checking commercial invoices, packing lists and transport documentation
  • Liaising with customers, customs authorities, hauliers and internal departments
  • Resolving customs queries and documentation issues
  • Monitoring customs clearance progress and providing regular updates
  • Maintaining accurate records for compliance and audit purposes
  • Advising customers on customs requirements where necessary
  • Supporting road, air and ocean freight shipments with customs clearance
  • Ensuring duties, taxes and relevant charges are calculated correctly
  • Keeping up to date with changes to customs legislation and procedures
  • Supporting the wider operations team when required
Requirements

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Previous experience working as a Customs Clerk, Customs Agent or Customs Clearance Operator
  • Experience completing import and export customs declarations
  • Good knowledge of Irish and EU customs procedures
  • Experience with customs systems and freight forwarding software
  • Knowledge of commodity codes, duties and taxes
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • The ability to manage multiple declarations and deadlines
  • Confidence dealing with customers, customs authorities and transport partners
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
