Manager - Customs & International Trade

Leading Tax ConsultancyLocation: London (Hybrid - minimum 2 days in office)Salary: £70,000 + excellent benefits

The Opportunity

An established and highly regarded accountancy and advisory firm, part of a global network, is looking to appoint an experienced Customs Manager to its expanding Customs & International Trade team in London.

This is a strong opportunity for an experienced professional to take on a visible, client-facing role, working on complex and high-value engagements across customs, excise, and CBAM. The position offers clear scope for progression within a growing and ambitious practice.

The Role

As a manager, you will take ownership of multiple client engagements, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring delivery is consistently high quality, both technically and professionally. You'll also play a key role in mentoring junior team members and contributing to the team's continued commercial success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver a broad range of customs and international trade projects, including:
    • Customs classification, origin, and valuation
    • Duty optimisation, including preferential duty reviews and reclaims
    • Customs special procedures
    • AEO authorisations
    • HMRC audits, reviews, and disclosures
    • Excise duties and approvals
    • CBAM advisory
  • Manage engagements end-to-end, from initial scoping through to delivery and ongoing support
  • Act as the main day-to-day contact for clients, building strong relationships and managing expectations
  • Support business development activities, including proposals, fee discussions, and budgeting
  • Monitor project performance, including recoveries and billing coordination
  • Review technical work, manage team workloads, and support the development of junior staff

Skills & Experience

  • Approximately 5+ years' experience in customs and international trade
  • Strong technical expertise across key customs disciplines
  • Proven experience leading engagements and overseeing delivery
  • Experience reviewing and mentoring junior team members
  • Commercially aware, with experience managing budgets, fees, and client relationships
  • Background in consultancy or professional services preferred
