Overview

Role: Customer and Trading Manager - Nightshift

Location: Herne Bay Store, Herne Bay, CT6 6GZ

Salary: Starting from £31,700

Contract: Permanent • Hours: Nightshift (typically 22:00-08:00), 4 nights per week

Nightshift managers are responsible for leading overnight replenishment, organising the warehouse, and ensuring shelves are stocked. They are hands-on, overseeing the full shift and the safety and wellbeing of colleagues, with the aim of delivering a strong start to the day for customers.

Responsibilities
  • Lead a team overnight to deliver all replenishment activities, prioritise deliveries, organise the warehouse, and replenish shelves.
  • Run a full store operation overnight when needed, taking responsibility for the shift and colleague safety and wellbeing.
  • Ensure standards are excellent by morning so the store is ready to serve customers.
  • Manage performance and capability, conduct disciplinaries as required, and ensure scheduling and pay accuracy.

Our nightshift managers work full-time hours over 4 nights, with a £4,500 premium on top of base salary.

What makes a great nightshift manager
  • Comfortable with nightshift working and able to adapt to the physical and mental demands, while maintaining a safe and healthy environment for the team.
  • Previous line management experience in a fast-paced, operational environment.
  • Resilience to the mental and physical demands of night work.
  • Provides excellent customer service and coaches the team to do the same.
  • Experience delivering and monitoring KPIs or other performance indicators.
  • Ability to manage disciplinaries, performance issues, or other employee relations matters.
  • Leads operations and is comfortable operating alone in the absence of more senior management.
  • Promotes inclusivity in all actions.
  • Proven track record of delivering great customer service and coaching others to achieve the same.
  • Experience leading a team in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with motivating others and maintaining smooth operations.
  • Operational leadership skills, including taking responsibility for store operations when senior managers are unavailable.
  • Proven success in meeting or exceeding KPIs such as sales, availability, customer satisfaction, or colleague engagement.
  • Experience managing employee relations issues, including performance and absence management.
  • Desirable - Has worked night shifts in a high-volume, operational environment and can maintain a safe, supportive atmosphere during out-of-hours trading.
