Our Crown Court Clerks ensure Crown Court hearings run smoothly, handling court documents and liaising confidently with judges, defence, prosecution, media and the public.
About usHM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) administers criminal, civil and family courts across England and Wales, providing crucial support to court users and colleagues.
Your profile- High emotional resilience and sensitivity to complex and sensitive issues.
- Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
- Confident public speaking in court and liaising with judges, defence, prosecution, media and members of the public.
- Accurate, timely production of court documents.
- IT proficiency and ability to learn new technologies.
- Assist and support the smooth running of Crown Court hearings.
- Intervene in court when required and maximise judicial sitting time.
- Produce and record verdicts, conduct arraignments, produce court orders and accurately record hearing outcomes.
Based at either Nottingham Crown Court (60 Canal Street, Nottingham, NG1 7EL) or Derby Crown Court (Morledge, Derby, DE1 2XE) with travel to other Midlands courts as required.
Working arrangements- Standard full time: 37 hours per week. Part time, flexible and job sharing arrangements considered where role demands permit.
- Minimum part time: 30 hours per week over 4 days.
- Hybrid working possible, with a minimum of 60% office presence.
- Annual leave: 25 days from appointment, increasing to 30 after five years.
- Option to buy/sell up to three days of leave per year.
