Criminal Solicitor / Accredited Police Station Representative

Basingstoke, Hampshire (Hybrid Working Available)

£50,000 - £55,000 DOE

Full-Time or Part-Time Considered

A well-established and highly regarded Hampshire law firm is seeking an experienced Criminal Solicitor to join its growing Criminal Defence team. This opportunity offers a varied caseload across both Legal Aid and Private Client criminal matters, alongside flexible hybrid working and a supportive team environment.

This role would suit a qualified solicitor looking to handle a broad range of criminal work whilst benefiting from genuine flexibility, strong administrative support and excellent long-term career prospects.

The Role

You will manage your own caseload whilst working closely with colleagues across a wide range of criminal matters, including:

  • Advising clients on a variety of criminal defence matters
  • Managing both Legal Aid and Privately Funded cases
  • Attending Police Stations and Magistrates' Courts as required
  • Preparing cases for hearings, trials and advocacy
  • Liaising with clients, Counsel, Courts, Police and other agencies
  • Providing clear, practical advice whilst maintaining excellent client care standards
  • Contributing to the continued growth and reputation of the department

About You

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

  • Qualification as a Solicitor in England & Wales
  • Previous experience handling Criminal Defence matters
  • Strong knowledge of Criminal Law and Criminal Procedure
  • Excellent client care and communication skills
  • The ability to run a varied caseload independently
  • A proactive and organised approach to work
  • A team-focused mindset and willingness to support colleagues

Desirable:

  • Police Station Accreditation
  • Duty Solicitor Status
  • Magistrates' Court advocacy experience

Applications are also welcomed from candidates who may not hold all accreditations currently but have strong criminal defence experience and a genuine passion for the area.
