Job Description
Protocol Education is currently recruiting Teaching Assistants from creative backgrounds, including music, performing arts, dance and acting, to work in a state-of-the-art special needs school in Kingston upon Thames.

Starting in September 2026, these roles will run for the full academic year and offer the opportunity to support pupils across Early Years, Primary and Secondary education. The school provides a highly inclusive and creative learning environment, along with ongoing training and development throughout the placement.

The school is looking for individuals who enjoy working with children of different ages and are passionate about making a positive difference to pupils' learning, communication and development.

No previous school or special needs experience is required. Commitment, enthusiasm, creativity and a willingness to learn are the key qualities the school is seeking.

The role

You will work within small classes of approximately 6-8 pupils, supporting students with a range of special educational needs, including:

  • Autism

  • Speech, language and communication difficulties

  • Learning difficulties

  • Complex needs

You will help pupils access an individualised curriculum tailored to their specific learning and developmental needs. Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with numeracy and literacy

  • Developing speech, language and communication skills

  • Teaching vocabulary and comprehension using visual resources

  • Supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis

  • Encouraging social interaction and emotional development

  • Assisting with creative and therapeutic activities such as art, music, swimming, cooking, K9 therapy and sensory play

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
