About Us

We are a world-class visitor attraction and leading science research centre. We use the Museum's unique collections and our unrivalled expertise to tackle the biggest challenges facing the world today. We care for more than 80 million objects spanning billions of years and welcome more than five million visitors annually and 16 million visits to our website.

Today the Museum is more relevant and influential than ever. By attracting people from a range of backgrounds to work for us, we can continue to look at the world with fresh eyes and find new ways of doing things.

We employ 1100 staff in a variety of roles, all united by our vision of a future where people and planet thrive. We need everyone to have the passion and drive to help us with our mission to create advocates for our planet and inspire millions to care about the natural world.

Diversity and inclusion matter to us.

Our vision is of a future where both people and the planet thrive. Diversity is one of our core values and we strive to build a workplace where everyone feels a sense of belonging. All new staff who join us learn about the importance of diversity and inclusion to the Museum and how to contribute to creating an inclusive environment.

We know we have more to do, but we are committed to ensuring that everyone who works at the Museum feels they can thrive and feel valued and respected.

About the role

We have an ambitious Learning Plan focussed on creating advocates for the planet. For greatest impact, we will deliver a dynamic programme of activities, events, and resources, onsite, online, and offsite centred around pivotal life moments for young people with their schools, teachers, families, and communities, inciting curiosity and sharing the wonder of the natural world.

We are proud to be working in partnership with the LEGO Group as part of their Build the Change programme. Through this, we develop events and activities to inspire children to learn about nature through play and to build positive solutions to mitigate the impacts of human activity on the planet.

As part of the Schools and Families team, the Creative Producer: LEGO Programme develops and delivers playful and innovative activities for our partnership. This includes large scale events for visiting families during school holidays, overseeing our LEGO schools offer, supporting our national partners with the development of their own activities and contributing to our community and accessible programmes.

The Schools and Families team creates and delivers innovative and engaging programmes that excite and engage young people, their families and teachers with science and nature. The programme inspires audiences with the range of STEM disciplines essential for understanding the natural world and the changes within it. Through our learning programmes, we aim to grow identities and aspirations in science, foster curiosity, develop scientific habits of mind, scientific literacy, and confidence, and meet audiences where they are.

About you

You will be a creative thinker with a talent for developing fun and educational STEM-themed activities for school and family audiences. You will be an expert in informal learning and knowledgeable about the formal education landscape.

In addition to being a talented programme developer, you will need to be able to represent the NHM effectively and have demonstrable experience of working with external partners. The successful candidate will be able to work strategically across a complex organisation and have the confidence to advocate for our partnership internally. Excellent organisational skills will also be critical to success.

Creative Producers are part of a weekend working rota (dependent on programming needs but no more than 1 weekend day in 3 weeks.

Whilst the Creative Producers in the Learning team specialise in either schools and families or community and youth audiences, they work fluidly and flexibly across teams to meet the needs of our audiences.
