CONTRACT TYPE: Permanent, Full-time
DEPARTMENT: BBC Studios Creative
LOCATION: London Television Centre - Hybrid
PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Up to £88,750 plus £5441 London Weighting and up to 15% bonus depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The Creative Director leads and inspires a high performing, multidisciplinary creative team to deliver exceptional, insight driven work across BBC Studios' global portfolio. Acting as the creative heartbeat of the organisation, the role shapes and oversees bold, innovative campaigns and content that elevate brand perception, support commercial goals, and set the benchmark for creative excellence across digital, social, video, experiential, and multiplatform storytelling.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT
  • Lead and inspire multidisciplinary creative teams to deliver high impact integrated campaigns, digital activations, trade events, and on set content to the highest creative and production standards.
  • Provide strategic and hands on creative direction across video, digital, experiential, and presentation platforms, ensuring cohesive and insight driven output.
  • Drive innovation and excellence in design, storytelling, and branded content to strengthen audience connection and elevate BBC Studios' brand perception.
  • Oversee the development and delivery of distinctive, multi platform content aligned with BBC Studios' commercial and creative objectives.
  • Mentor and manage creatives, producers, and digital talent-cultivating collaboration, professional growth, and intelligent risk taking.
  • Contribute to senior management decision making, including resource planning, budget oversight, workflow optimisation, and departmental strategy.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and ensure all creative work meets BBC editorial, technical, compliance, and organisational standards.
YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Exceptional creative and digital expertise, with a strong record of delivering high quality, innovative work.
  • Proven leadership experience, demonstrating effective Creative Direction and team management across multidisciplinary groups.
  • Strong multi platform credentials, including strategic vision, digital storytelling, and brand building capability.
  • Solid production experience across relevant formats and environments.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to pitch, present, and influence senior stakeholders confidently and persuasively.

DESIRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • Proven creative leader with strong conceptual abilities and a track record of delivering original, impactful ideas across multiple platforms.
  • Deep expertise in brand positioning, digital storytelling, and large scale integrated campaign development.
  • Highly skilled in copywriting, art direction, and producing high quality creative across digital, social, and traditional channels.
  • Strong understanding of social media, video strategy, analytics, emerging technologies, and performance driven optimisation.
  • Excellent people leadership skills, demonstrating resilience, sound judgement, and the ability to collaborate effectively while upholding BBC editorial and ethical standards.
