Cover Tutor

Contract: Full-time, Temporary

Salary: £25+ per hour, Flexible depending on experience

We are currently recruiting for a flexible and adaptable Cover Tutor to work within a prison education setting, supporting the delivery of lessons across a range of subjects.

This is a general supply role where lesson plans and materials are provided, allowing you to focus on delivering engaging sessions in subjects such as English, Maths, Employability, and more (depending on experience)

This role is ideal for a qualified teacher looking for a varied and rewarding position, with the opportunity to support learners in a unique and challenging environment.

• Deliver pre-prepared lessons across a range of subjects including English, Maths, and Employability
• Maintain a calm, engaging, and structured learning environment
• Support learners with varying abilities and educational backgrounds
• Encourage participation, confidence, and progression in learning
• Manage behaviour effectively within a secure setting
• Promote a positive and inclusive learning culture
• Work collaboratively with education and prison staff

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification (essential)
• Confident delivering a range of subjects at Functional Skills level
• Flexible, resilient, and able to adapt to different classroom environments
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Passion for supporting individuals with challenging or disrupted educational journeys

Desirable:

• Experience in prison education, alternative provision, or SEN settings
• Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and safeguarding
