Job Title - Cover Supervisor

Salary - WPT Band 5 £30023 - £32046 (Pro Rata £24299 - £25936)

Hours - 34 hours per week, term time, including 5 additional days

Contract Type - Permanent

Location - Wickersley School and Sports College

About the Role

As a Cover Supervisor, your primary purpose is to provide whole-class lesson cover when a classroom teacher is unavailable. You will supervise pupils delivering pre-prepared activities, maintaining a safe, structured, and purposeful environment to ensure learning is not disrupted and the curriculum continues to be delivered successfully.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver activities prepared by the classroom teacher and supervise self-directed learning to maintain continuous curriculum delivery.
  • Set up the classroom appropriately, ensuring the correct resources are available to deliver activities efficiently while adhering to health and safety standards.
  • Manage pupil behaviour effectively, dealing with any immediate issues to ensure activities run smoothly and pupil safety is maintained.
  • Provide immediate, informal feedback to pupils to ensure they continue to perform to a high standard.
  • Return completed work and provide detailed feedback to the classroom teacher for follow-up action.
  • Undertake other reasonable duties within the general scope of the post, including break duties and general supervision of children.
Qualifications
  • Strong literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE Grade C/4 or equivalent in English and Maths).
  • Previous experience of working with children or young people in an educational or youth setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt quickly to changing daily needs.
