Connex Education is recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Cover Supervisors to support secondary schools across Sheffield and the surrounding areas. As a Cover Supervisor, you will provide continuity when teachers are unavailable by delivering pre-prepared work and helping students stay focused throughout the lesson. You will work with secondary pupils across a range of subjects, supporting positive behaviour and encouraging engagement with set activities.
This role can suit graduates considering teaching, experienced education professionals, or candidates with experience in coaching, mentoring, youth work or similar settings. You will be expected to follow each school's policies, routines and safeguarding procedures while building positive relationships with pupils and staff.
Key Responsibilities- Lead lessons using work and resources prepared by teaching staff.
- Encourage students to engage positively with learning and complete set activities.
- Maintain effective and consistent classroom behaviour.
- Support students to remain focused and work towards lesson objectives.
- Adapt quickly to different school environments, expectations and routines.
- Follow school safeguarding procedures, policies and expectations at all times.
- Previous experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, youth work or a similar setting.
- Strong communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence managing and leading groups of students within a classroom environment.
- The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and school staff.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
- An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.
