Job Description

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Courier Driver to join our team based in Crewe.

Contract and Hours

Contract: Permanent / Full Time

Hours: 10 15 Mon & Tue, 09 00 Wed, Thu & Fri (38 hrs per week)

Role Overview

The main purpose of the courier driver role is to contribute to the safe and timely movement and transportation of goods and equipment.

The role requires excellent communication skills with customers, colleagues, and other stakeholders to maintain the highest standards. Using electronic and paper based forms of recording tasks and items delivered and collected, making sure that all courier tasks are carried out correctly and to scheduled times. The role may involve heavy lifting/manual handling of equipment and goods, using a tail lift and loading/unloading and moving of roll cages. The role will be driving vehicles from small vans up to 3.5 tonne Luton vans, which can be driven on the category B part of the UK Manual driving licence.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out courier journeys to various locations following agreed routes and timings.
  • Complete digital and manual documentation required by legislation and organisational procedures.
  • Maintain regular contact with the operations office using a range of communication systems.
  • Ensure all items are always kept safe and secure.
  • Always comply with the Road Traffic Act while driving and other relevant legislation connected to the vehicle.
  • Act as customer contact at delivery points of service and relay relevant information to the operations office.
  • Complete vehicle checks prior to use, and notify any defects to the Operations Office verbally and through appropriate documentation.
  • Always act in a polite and courteous manner to customers and road users.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Ability to plan routes effectively.

  • Good problem solving skills.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Must be able to use a PDA (training will be provided).
  • Good, clear handwriting.
  • Familiar with local and surrounding areas.
  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence held for a minimum of 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
