Countryside Maintenance & Projects Team Ranger

Overview

The role presents a rare and exciting opportunity for a capable and motivated individual to join our Countryside Maintenance and Projects Team (CMPT) as a Ranger. It will involve working across the National Park, often in remote or difficult-to-access places, and will demand a range of skills. The team is responsible for general maintenance and repairs across the Authority's estate and will also work on larger projects, particularly involving groundworks to deliver major improvements to our sites.

The position is full time and based at our site in Ashford in the Water, near Bakewell, but will spend most of the time on site across the National Park.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance and repairs of buildings across the National Park.
• Day to day management of selected sites.
• Grounds maintenance including mowing, strimming, tree management, boundary maintenance, and footpath maintenance.
• Repairs to the network of multi user trails.
• Participation in development projects such as car park resurfacing, footpath resurfacing, minor building and groundwork projects, drainage improvements and other projects associated with National Park Purposes.

Qualifications

• Experience of building maintenance, landscape construction projects, or grounds maintenance.
• Adaptability and a keenness to learn new skills.
• Experience operating machinery and plant is advantageous.
• Ability to manage health and safety of self and others; experience completing risk assessments for relevant work is advantageous.
• Ability to work in public areas, communicate effectively with members of the public, answer questions, and engage positively.
