Job Description
The role

The successful candidate will be part of Saffery's Corporate Tax team, responsible for managing a diverse client portfolio, encompassing the delivery of both corporate tax compliance and advisory services. This is a challenging and interesting client facing role, which will include exposure to a range of both UK and international clients.

The responsibilities

Frequently dealing with challenging technical issues, the candidate can expect the role to encompass the following areas amongst others:

  • Preparation and review of corporation tax computations.
  • Taking an active role in the management of key milestones, return and payment deadlines.
  • Corresponding with clients and HMRC.
  • Supporting Partners and Managers on the delivery of tax advisory assignments and planning projects including international tax, capital allowances, R&D tax relief and structuring advice
  • Support in advising on a range of technical areas such as complex capital allowances claims, R&D tax relief, transfer pricing, Substantial Shareholdings Exemption, Controlled Foreign Companies, Corporate Interest Restriction, Withholding Tax and Double Taxation Relief, with the support of specialist colleagues where required.
  • Providing support in stand alone tax advisory projects, including structuring acquisitions and disposals, transaction support and due diligence.
  • Support and guidance of an approachable senior management who will help you to achieve your long term career goals.

The team

The hiring team in Peterborough contributes to our wider, national Corporate Tax function. The Corporate Tax teams deal with a large portfolio of companies operating in a variety of sectors, including manufacturing, technology, retail, recruitment, financial services, hospitality and property. These clients range from smaller owner managed businesses to large and complex listed groups, as well as charities and not for profit organisations.

You

The role would suit a newly qualified individual (for example ACA/ACCA/CTA) either working in corporation tax or looking to specialise in corporation tax.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Strong UK tax technical skills.
  • Ability to analyse tax technical queries and provide robust advice and solutions.
  • Project management skills, with the ability to plan and prioritise work, meet deadlines and monitor budgets.
  • Responsibility for the delivery and quality of work.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A clear client focus with a commitment to building strong client relationships.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in different teams.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills to develop other team members.
  • Willingness to learn with a keen desire to become involved in new areas and share knowledge.
