Corporate Head of Service - Community Housing

London Borough

Up to £550 PD (Umbrella)

Reporting to the Assistant Director for Homes, you will lead the council's Community Housing services, including Housing Options, Accommodation Services, and Housing Support.

You will manage the Housing Options, Accommodation Services, and Housing Support teams. In this role, you will be at the heart of this transformation-driving innovation, championing collaboration, and leading with purpose.

Your role as Corporate Head of Service - Community Housing:
  1. Ensure statutory housing duties are met, including homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation, and resettlement.
  2. Develop innovative housing solutions and manage demand for both short- and long-term housing.
  3. Oversee safeguarding practices and ensure services support independent living.
  4. Lead and inspire high-performing teams to deliver housing solutions that are innovative, inclusive, and prevention-focused.
  5. Drive transformation through commissioning, performance management, and digital innovation.
  6. Build strong partnerships across public, private, and voluntary sectors to enhance service delivery.
  7. Ensure statutory housing duties are met and anticipate policy and legislative changes.
  8. Deliver financial sustainability through effective contract and budget management.
Your previous experience as Corporate Head of Service - Community Housing:
  1. Has a proven track record in leading complex housing services.
  2. Thrives in a networked, collaborative environment.
  3. Is politically astute and commercially confident.
  4. Brings a strong customer focus and a passion for continuous improvement.
  5. Has experience working with elected members and diverse stakeholders.
  6. Holds a relevant degree or professional qualification.
