Are you ready to write your next chapter? We're looking for a Corporate Counsel III to join the Worldpay Enterprise Legal Team. Make your mark at one of the biggest names in payments. With proven technology, we process the largest volume of payments in the world, driving the global economy every day. When you join Worldpay, you join a global community of experts and changemakers, working to reinvent an industry by constantly evolving how we work and making the way millions of people pay easier, every day.

About the role

The Corporate Counsel III is responsible for providing high quality legal advice, policy, and direction to the EMEA Enterprise business with a focus on commercial contract and regulatory work. The role requires seamless collaboration across time zones with Worldpay's global commercial, legal, and compliance teams, with most time dedicated to merchant risk analysis, contract drafting and negotiations, and legal advice. Rapidly building personal credibility and ensuring effective stakeholder management across the business group is essential.

About the team

The Enterprise Legal Team, which includes nine lawyers and will grow to ten with this role, supports the business by onboarding new merchants across various verticals-including high risk verticals-and expanding the existing merchant portfolio while ensuring the company is adequately protected from a legal perspective. This work is done in partnership with Risk, Compliance, and Audit teams that balance a healthy risk appetite and allow the company to expand safely.

What you'll own
  • Provide high quality, business focused legal support to a growing, global business, understanding both legal requirements and commercial implications.
  • Draft, negotiate, and structure commercial contracts, liaising with customers, suppliers, and senior management.
  • Review and advise on the legal status of prospective merchants, particularly those in regulated industries.
  • Continuously improve the capabilities of the in house legal function, including the adoption of legal technologies.
  • Drive consistent approaches across Worldpay in terms of appetite, policy standards, and governance.
  • Deliver legal education through bespoke training to the business.
  • Manage and engage with external counsel on primarily regulatory matters.
What you bring
  • Proven ability to provide incisive, reliable, and commercial legal advice and solutions on complex business issues, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain business relationships and perform effective stakeholder management.
  • Interest in payments services regulation, and ability to apply current or evolving laws to complex commercial structures and products.
  • Ability to understand and apply various laws and regulations across the globe for merchant risk analysis.
  • Broad corporate and commercial experience with a solid understanding of core legal concepts, particularly in contract law.
  • Curious - asking the right questions and learning to improve continuously.
  • Accountable - taking initiative and working at pace to achieve goals.
  • Open - working across borders and collaborating with team members to achieve collective goals.
