Job Description
Welcome to the video-first world

From your everyday PowerPoint presentations to Hollywood movies, AI will transform the way we create and consume content. Today, people prefer to watch and listen rather than read - both at home and at work. If you're reading this and nodding, check out our recent Synthesia 2.0 event .

Despite the clear preference for video, communication and knowledge sharing in the business environment are still dominated by text, largely because high-quality video production remains complex and challenging to scale-until now.

Meet Synthesia

We're on a mission to make video easy for everyone. Born in an AI lab, our AI video platform simplifies the entire video production process, making it accessible for everyone, regardless of skill level, to create, collaborate, and share high-quality videos. Whether it's for delivering essential training to employees and customers or marketing products and services, Synthesia enables large organizations to communicate and share knowledge through video quickly and efficiently. We're trusted by leading brands such as Heineken, Zoom, Xerox, McDonald's, and more. Read stories from happy customers and what 1,200+ people say on G2 .

In 2023, we were one of 7 European companies to reach unicorn status. In February 2024, G2 named us the fastest-growing company in the world. We've raised over $300M in funding from top-tier investors, including Accel, Nvidia, Kleiner Perkins, Google, and NEA, along with top founders and operators from Stripe, Datadog, Miro, Webflow, and Meta.

About the role

At Synthesia, we are building the future of video communications and collaboration at work. After eight years of research and a roller coaster ride of successes and failures, Synthesia is now the leading AI video platform, with over 65,000 customers, including 70% of Fortune 100 companies.

We are just beginning to lay the groundwork for a new kind of media and a new company. Imagine joining Airbnb or Stripe when these companies were in their early days. We are seeking a communications and policy professional to join our corporate affairs team. The role will be based in London and will report to our head of corporate affairs.

What you'll do
  • Tell our stories in creative and inspiring ways that resonate with our key audiences, including employees, reporters, thought leaders, social media creators, policymakers, customers, and partners
  • Design and lead proactive media and policy campaigns to advance business objectives in North America and Europe
  • Identify and monitor high-impact policy areas and trends related to AI requiring policy development or advocacy for Synthesia
  • Deliver research or policy analysis in response to government stakeholder requests, aligned with our strategic priorities
  • Work daily with reporters, thought leaders, social media creators, and policymakers on proactive and reactive communications efforts to enhance our brand and reputation
  • Build a strong network of relevant contacts across the UK, North America, and mainland Europe (especially France and Germany)
  • Manage corporate issues and media inquiries via our press office, acting as a spokesperson for Synthesia
  • Support Synthesia's executives in their presence at events and prepare them for important meetings with external stakeholders
What you'll need
  • Creativity and drive to tell compelling stories, a passion for AI, and curiosity to learn and explore new technologies and trends
  • Strong understanding of the media, policy, and cultural landscape, with an existing network of media and policy contacts in the UK, and ability to form new contacts in Europe and North America
  • Self-drive and excellent time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects and achieve measurable results
  • Experience in issues management and explaining complex topics to diverse audiences
  • Ability to build cross-functional relationships, think critically, and execute tactically with attention to detail amidst changing priorities
  • Excellent news filtering, writing, and communication skills
