Job Description

Sr. Backend adventure in payments processing in Amsterdam! You'll become a key member within a core Engineering team. In 2025 the total engineering team will double in size from 12 to 20. The volumes that are processed will increase significantly. No legacy to work with, only new and modern solutions that you fully own.

Your job and the requirements

If you like the complexity modern FinTech brings and impact/ownership are your drivers, this environment is for you. This is a key position in the company so you'll help shape the modern systems/products from the early days and influence on how it's being built. Ideally you're a pro-active engineer who loves designs and coding but also bringing maturity to the team by coaching/mentoring. Payments means mission critical, robust and scalable systems that are complex for many reasons. There is no 'ugly' legacy so most of your time you will be working on new/greenfield products and features.

The team is awesome. Together you brainstorm and create (domain-driven) backend designs for scalable and high available Microservices architectures. You make sure the best tool/tech is used for the problem at hand and write future proof code deployed on AWS Serverless. You design it, you build it, test it, deploy it, run it and own it

Requirements:

  • TypeScript, NodeJS Microsrvices
  • API development and best practices in API consumption
  • Relational and nonrelational DBs like SQL, NoSQL, Postgres, DynamoDB
  • Designing and building event-driven systems in cloud infrastructure on AWS (Serverless)
  • DevSecOps, secure deployment practices, testing frameworks, CI and observability stacks
  • Strong communication skills.

Having fun on the job is important as well so we're looking for bright personalities with positive vibes!

Company

Founded by 3 payment domain experts from well-known, global payment services providers (psp's) they initially secured a very good pre-seed round, followed by a solid seed round last year. The VC sheet is one to be proud of with Internationally recognized names on it. The total company today is 20 people of which 12 in Engineering. The goal is to steadily grow and double the engineering team during 2025 whilst onboarding more clients; adding volume to the platform and maturing the product in all aspects (scalability, predictability, reliability, etc).

The product is operating globally and servicing platforms instead of single e-shops which brings multi-tenancy and complexity especially across regions. The product is running successfully at the first clients in production and it is processing significant volume already. The roadmap is solid with some big things for scheduled for 2025.

The hybrid setup is 3 office days and working remote for longer periods of time is trust you can earn once you're properly onboarded and you've shown to be impactful, output driven and able to take ownership. They operate from a cool office space in Amsterdam. Lunch is taken care of, both warm or cold and healthy or not! Ping pong, table soccer, Friday drinks, company fun, etc. is all present for relaxing as well!

Salary and benefits

The base compensation range is competitive for the Amsterdam market. The esop stock package is very good. Overall, the TC is top of market for Amsterdam. Other relevant perks are present as well.

The focus is on local talent but exceptions can be made for Internationals within the EU willing to relocate to Amsterdam if there is the perfect match. They will offer a relocation package, VISA sponsorship and 30% ruling.
