Borough Kitchen has five stores across London and a significant e commerce presence. We search within the UK and around the world for the best products; each piece is meticulously chosen and tested based on function, quality, and durability. Our commitment has won us a unique, trusted position in the industry and strong partnerships with premium brands.

We put a lot of care into the work we do, and are seeking candidates who share our passion for cooking, entertaining, and providing the best experience for customers.

About the role

Borough Kitchen is looking for a skilled and passionate Cook School Chef to join our team. In this role, you'll lead engaging, high quality cooking classes and demonstrations, building our customers' confidence in the kitchen while sharing your knowledge of ingredients, techniques and recipes.

We're looking for someone who feels at home in the kitchen and enjoys sharing that with others. You're a confident communicator who likes explaining not just how things are done, but why. Teaching experience is useful, but not essential. What matters most is your enthusiasm for food and your ability to create a welcoming, relaxed and inspiring experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities
  • Host our guests in a warm and friendly environment
  • Confident communicator who enjoys sharing skills and knowledge, focusing on the why not just the how.
  • Prepare cooking classes, ensuring all ingredients and equipment are ready with a focus on cleanliness, safety, and efficiency
  • Deliver engaging and informative cooking classes and demonstrations
  • Provide excellent customer service, answering any questions and ensuring a positive experience for guests
  • Maintain a clean and organised cooking area
  • Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards
  • Clean down after classes together with the Cook School Assistant
Qualifications
  • Excellent cooking skills and knowledge of various cuisines and techniques
  • Proven experience as a professional chef or culinary instructor
  • Passion for food and cooking, with a desire to share knowledge and inspire others
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Food hygiene and safety certification is a plus
Benefits
  • Industry leading discounts across our portfolio of trusted, high quality brands
  • Complimentary Cook School classes
  • Longevity holiday benefit
  • Annual pay review
  • Free access to our comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) providing 24/7 confidential advice to support your wellbeing and provide expert guidance and resources whenever you or your family need it.
