Job Description

Control Room Solutions Architect - Emergency Services Network (ESN) - £600 per day - Inside IR35 - Primarily Remote - 6 Month intial contract.

My client, a leading technology company and specialist in the design, build, support and management of the UK's critical digital infrastructure, is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect - Control Room Technology to support the onboarding of Emergency Services Control Room systems onto the Emergency Services Network (ESN). This is a critical role in a national transformation programme that modernises public safety communications across Fire, Police, and Ambulance services.

As an ESN SME, you'll be at the forefront of control room integration-ensuring smooth technical alignment, stakeholder engagement, and timely delivery of key onboarding milestones.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical integration of Control Room systems with the ESN.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on ESN and Airwave technologies.
  • Define and communicate interface requirements, configuration protocols, and end-to-end testing procedures.
  • Work directly with User Organisations, Control Room system vendors, and the Home Office to resolve onboarding and integration issues.
  • Represent the programme at onboarding governance forums, providing clear updates, escalations, and technical insights.
  • Ensure all onboarding technical deliverables are completed within programme timelines and budgets.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience as an ESN Solutions Architect or SME, ideally within a Control Room environment.
  • Extensive knowledge of Emergency Services Control Room operations and technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with system integration, configuration, and testing for critical communications platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement background, with the ability to work effectively across complex multi-agency environments.
  • Clear understanding of the ESN ecosystem, Control Room interfaces, and the transition from Airwave.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Comfortable managing competing priorities in a fast-moving, mission-critical programme.

Desirable:

  • Background in Emergency Services (Police, Fire, or Ambulance).
  • Prior engagement with Home Office-led programmes.
  • Experience in both legacy and next-gen Control Room technology stacks.
