ITS Building People are currently recruiting for an experienced Contracts Manager on behalf of an established construction contractor operating across South East and Central London. The company delivers a diverse range of construction and specialist building projects, including high-end residential refurbishments, roofing, waterproofing, fire protection, building maintenance and insurance reinstatement works.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Contracts Manager looking to join a growing business with a strong reputation for quality, attention to detail and reliable project delivery.
Key Responsibilities- Managing multiple construction and refurbishment projects from commencement through to completion.
- Taking responsibility for the successful delivery of allocated contracts.
- Managing project programmes, budgets and commercial performance.
- Coordinating Site Managers, subcontractors, suppliers and specialist trades.
- Attending client and project meetings.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and consultants.
- Monitoring progress and ensuring projects remain on programme.
- Reviewing project costs, variations and financial performance.
- Assisting with procurement and subcontractor appointments.
- Reviewing scopes of work, specifications and drawings.
- Identifying potential construction issues and developing practical solutions.
- Managing variations and additional works.
- Ensuring projects are completed to the required specification and quality standards.
- Monitoring health and safety across projects.
- Managing defects and ensuring outstanding works are completed promptly.
- Overseeing project handover and completion documentation.
- Assisting with final accounts and commercial close-out.
- Providing regular updates to senior management on project progress, commercial performance and potential risks.
- Previous experience working as a Contracts Manager, Senior Contracts Manager or similar.
- Strong knowledge of construction and refurbishment projects.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Good commercial awareness and financial management skills.
- Experience managing subcontractors and specialist trades.
- Strong programme management skills.
- Excellent client and stakeholder management abilities.
- Good understanding of construction health and safety requirements.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, specifications and scopes of work.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- A proactive approach to identifying and resolving project issues.
- Ability to work independently while effectively leading project teams.
- Experience across high-end residential refurbishment, commercial refurbishment, roofing, waterproofing, fire protection, building maintenance, insurance reinstatement, planned and reactive works or general building works would be advantageous.
- Experience working on occupied properties, residential developments or projects within Central London would also be beneficial.
