Permanent

Grade C- £35,412 - £41,771

Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review

Working 36.5 hours per week

Birmingham City Council has an opportunity for a skilled and motivated Contract Works Officers working as part of the Aids and Adaptations Team.

Delivering aids and adaptations to a diverse community, ensuring their varied needs are met, you will also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, allowing you to build and maintain positive relationships with all customers.

The successful applicant will be required to understand and interpret the Priority Needs Assessments from the Occupational Therapy team and deliver the required works to meet the adaptations recommended.

Must be proficient in reviewing adaptation programmes, reviewing costs, understanding and agreeing variations to works, producing clear, concise reports and collating all required information to be stored from O and M manuals through to agreed costs. Ensure quality and customer-based care through working closely with our repair partners.

You will be experienced in inspecting and diagnosing building defects to both low- and high-rise tower blocks and ordering remedial works to be carried out by our nominated contractor. You will have previous experience of delivering Planned Works from inception to completion and within budget.

The Contract Works Officer role requires knowledge of residential maintenance and a desirable qualification in Gas or Electric to a minimum of HNC or BTEC Building or relevant industry experience.

You will also need to have a full UK driving licence for this role and your own vehicle.

Although the role is hybrid with a base office, you will be required to attend various locations city wide as part of the role.
