Job Description

Contract Pattern Maker

Start: Monday, 27th October

Finish: Friday, 19th December 2025 (initial 1-month, with a strong chance to extend through to the end of December)

Client: Global performance apparel brand

Location: Herzogenaurach, Germany - ideally Munich or Berlin-based for ease of travel

Work set-up: Flexible hybrid model - (hybrid: 50% on-site atelier/50% remote)

Compliance: You must be legally registered as self-employed in Germany, as a Freiberufler

Days: Full-time, 5 days per week

Day rate: €60 per hour

Role Brief

Support the development of innovative performance apparel sportswear patterns from concept to production standard, combining both manual and digital techniques.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Draping on standard mannequins to establish design lines

  • Converting draped pieces into accurate flat patterns

  • Editing and developing block patterns

  • Digitising physical patterns for production and reference (DXF, PDF, Gerber, Illustrator)

  • Maintaining measurement accuracy in line with technical packs

  • Documenting processes and ensuring compliance with atelier safety protocols

  • Acting as a consultant to prototype engineers, product developers, and design partners


About the Role

We're partnering with a global sportswear leader in performance apparel to deliver cutting-edge, production-ready patterns for an upcoming innovation programme.

As a Contract Pattern Maker, you'll:

  • Develop patterns at both physical and digital levels

  • Collaborate closely with engineers and design teams across Herzogenaurach and beyond

  • Use your atelier and industrial-scale production experience to ensure accuracy and scalability

  • Guide and advise internal and external partners on workmanship, processing variations, and pattern creation best practices

  • Communicate clearly with a multi-national team - English is essential, German is a strong plus

This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role for an experienced Pattern Maker who is confident working at the intersection of craftsmanship and digital tooling.
